Backpacking Iloilo-Guimaras: Part I

DAY 1: ILOILO

Exploring more of Iloilo to have a gastronomic adventure and beach bumming in Guimaras is one of the things I want to do this Summer 2016. I immediately booked a trip to Iloilo when I found out it’s on a seat sale at Cebu Pacific and got a roundtrip ticket for only PHP 1,048 only! From that day on, I kept on researching on what to do in Iloilo for our 4days/3nights trip. As the days passed, I got to learn that there are a lot of things to do in Iloilo. So here’s a run down of our adventure in the city of love!

We arrived at Iloilo International Airport at 4PM and rode a shuttle van going to SM Iloilo beside Plazuela de Iloilo to have our late lunch there at Jo’s Chicken Inato. We forgot to take photos anymore since we we’re so hungry, haha!

Go Hotels Iloilo is located in Iloilo City Proper and it’s very convenient if you want to explore the city. Most jeepneys pass by the area.Beside the Go Hotels Iloilo is Robinsons Place Iloilo where you can shop and dine. There’s also Starbucks and a 24 hour Mini Stop convenience store.  If you just want a place to sleep with basic amenities, Go Hotels Iloilo is one of the best option. They don’t have a fix rate, but the thing is– is you book early, you pay for less.

Checked-in! I had to jump in at our queen-sized bed together with a comfy duvet and pillows! Our spacious room has a split-type air-conditioner, flat-screen TV, phone, in-room safe, a small folding desk, clothes rack and fast Wi-Fi internet access! It was a super hot day and so I tried to turn on the aircon but I felt like it’s not working properly or I guess I’m not familiar on how to use the aircon remote, haha! I called for assistance and the maintenance personnel went there to assist us right away. He even changed the filters of the air-conditioning unit to make our room cooler than ever!

I love the modern bathroom fixtures, it has a hot/cold shower from both the hand-held rain spout and complimentary essential toiletries like bath soap & shampoo. They also have a service plus just in case you need other toiletries.

PONSYON AT PLAZUELA DE ILOILO

Since I’m really craving for seafood, I asked if we could head back to Plazuela de Iloilo to have our dinner at Breakthrough. It was so good especially the Aligue Rice and the Baked Oysters! We were in food coma after eating, come to think of it these are only good for two. It was Ponsyon (feast) indeed!

Slept early on our first night, and we kinda overslept too! You know it when you had a good sleep and stay when you don’t wanna get out of the bed and just stay there. Go Hotels Iloilo is my home away from home! Ugh, I don’t wanna leave yet but I have to get up for our Guimaras day.
